Pierce Kavanagh | Guard / Ensemble

Pierce has been involved in theatre for almost twenty years and in that time he has been an Actor, Director, Stage Manager, Production Manager, Lighting Designer and Producer. Recent acting credits include Lane and Merriman in The Importance of Being Earnest, National Tour with City Theatre Dublin; Whit in Of Mice and Men, Liberty Hall Theatre with Troppo Theatre Co; Conor in Aisling’s Diary, Campbell Ryan Film Productions for RTE; Earnest Albert Hooten in Blood of the Irish, which won an IFTA award for Best Documentary, Crossing The Line Films; James ‘Whitey’ Bolger in Scannal, Midas Productions for RTE; Sean McBride in Ceart agus Coir, Midas Productions for RTE. Pierce has worked with Lane Productions many times in the past, especially in Andrews Lane Theatre, where he worked on the last two shows before it closed its doors, The Stuff of Myth and 24 Charing Cross Road. He also toured Ireland extensively with productions such as A Night in November, Over and Out, Tom Crean-Antarctic Explorer, which also went to The New End Theatre, London, and the latest national sell-out tour of Stones in his Pockets. Having recently graduated from UCD with an MA in Directing for Theatre, which included the MA in Drama and Performance, Pierce is currently working on a series of workshops for adults and summer camps for children which will take place in The Helix Theatre, Glasnevin, where he will also direct Ira Levin’s Deathtrap in July 2010. After a spell behind the scenes, Pierce has returned to the stage, and unlike the inmates of “The Shank” who feel the oppression of their walls around them, Pierce looks forward to the freedom of being allowed to tread the boards once more.
