Owen O'Neill

Owen O'Neill is a writer/stand-up comedian and actor. He has written and performed eight one-man stage plays winning three Fringe firsts, the Edinburgh critics award for best Comedy and the LWT writers award for best original script. He has currently written and directed a short film, The Basketcase, which won the best short at the 08 Boston Film Festival. He was also instrumental in putting together the play, Twelve Angry Men, with twelve other comedians including Bill Bailey as Juror number four, Owen played Juror number 8 made famous by Henry Fonda. It received critical acclaim and due to its success was followed by the West End hit One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest which ran for six months and starred Christian Slater as McMurphy, Owen played the role of Dale Harding. As a stand-up comedian he has won the Time Out Award for best Stand-up and has been nominated for a Perrier Award. His debut TV play Arise and go now was directed by Danny Boyle (The Beach, Slumdog Millionaire). The critics wrote 'His writing is reminiscent of the plays of Sean O'Casey and the films of John Ford.His other film and theatre credits include: Rory O'Connor.
