Dave Johns was born in the North East of England. His parents were both born in Dublin, which he still regards as his spiritual home. Dave started his career as a stand up comedian performing at The Comedy Store in London’s West End where he soon won laughter and applause from his audiences, respect from his fellow comics, and rave reviews from the critics. He has performed at all the major comedy clubs and comedy festivals around the world; Montreal Just for Laughs; Kilkenny Cat laughs; Melbourne Comedy Festival; the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe, and in comedy clubs from New York to Hong Kong. Theatre credits include the critically acclaimed and smash hit show of the 2003 Edinburgh Festival, 12 Angry Men which later toured Australia, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Christian Slater which transferred to London’s West End for a six month run, The Odd Couple at the Assembly Theatre Edinburgh, playing his favourite role to date, Murray the Police Officer. He has directed television’s Ant and Dec in the stage play The Wizard of Oz at the Tyne Theatre and Opera house in his Native Newcastle Upon Tyne. Dave is a talented improviser, who is a regular guest with the world famous Comedy Store Players. Television credits Include: Mud, Children’s series for BBC1, Spender BBC1, and Harry’s Game BBC 2, The Rag Nymph, ITV. Dave has written sketches for Television and Radio and is in the process of writing a stage play for The Edinburgh Fringe in 2010, I have John Lennon’s Head and is also writing a book about his early years on the road as a stand up comic with the working title “Well if that’s your Attitude”. Dave lives in Whitley Bay with his daughter Macey.
